Madhabi Puri Buch first Woman to Head the capital market Regulator, SEBI(Securities and Exchange Board of India).
The Government of India (Finance Ministry) named Madhabi Puri Buch as the Chairperson of the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on February 28, Monday
Madhabi Puri Buch is replacing Ajay Tyagi, whose five-year tenure has come to an end. He is a 1984 batch IAS officer who was appointed as the chairman for SEBI on March 1, 2017
this would be the first time since 2002 that the government appointed a non-IAS individual to lead SEBI.
She did her schooling from Fort Convent, Mumbai and Convent of Jesus and Mary, Delhi and then she joined St. Stephen's College(for Bachelor's), Delhi. after that, she joined IIM Ahemdabad.
Madhabi Puri Buch Started her Working Career in 1988 as a Social Worker for a NGO, (1988-1989). after that she worked for ICICI Bank(1989-1992) as Project Finance Analyst.
in 1993, she moved to Chester, UK and worked as a Lecturer at West Cheshire College for 2 years (1993-1995). in 1995, she returned to India and joined ORG-MARG(1995-1996).
Again in 1997, Madhabi Puri Buch Joined ICICI Bank and worked there for almost 12 years at different positions(1997-2009).from 2009 to 2011, she was the CEO of ICICI Securities, ICICI Bank Group.
After working for different companies and being non-executive director at multiple companies, finally in 2017 she Joined SEBI as Whole Time Member.
