The post mortem report of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala states that he died within 15 minutes of being shot at and had 19 bullets pumped into his body by assailants. Moose Wala, 28, was gunned down in Punjab’s Mansa district on Sunday, May 29.
After conducting Moose Wala’s autopsy, a panel of five doctors concluded that his cause of death was, “Haemorrhagic shock which is due to antemortem firearm injuries described and sufficient to cause death in ordinary course of nature.”
The report further states that Moose Wala’s body bore maximum bullet injury marks on his right side. The bullets had hit his kidneys, liver, lungs, and spine, and he probably died “within 15 minutes” of being wounded.
An X-ray of the whole body was conducted, the autopsy report said. Moose Wala’s T-shirt and pyjamas were found soaked in blood and had multiple holes corresponding to his injuries, it added.
Unidentified gunmen had ambushed Moose Wala in Jawarharke village in Mansa and opened fire at the Thar he was travelling in, mere days after the singer-politician ‘s security cover was revoked by the Punjab government. At least three weapons, including an AN-94 assault rifle, were used and thirty empty bullet casings were recovered from the site.
Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who is a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has claimed responsibility for Moose Wala’s murder. Police said the singer’s slaying appeared to be in retaliation of Akali leader Vicky Middukhera’s murder that took place last year.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had earlier announced setting up a judicial commission headed by a sitting high court judge to probe the incident.
Moose Wala was cremated at his native Moosa village in Mansa on Tuesday. A sea of mourners joined his funeral procession and paid their last respects while the singer’s family members bid him a tearful goodbye.
Moose Wala’s favourite tractor, which had figured in many of his music videos, was bedecked with flowers for his last ride to a family-owned field for the cremation. Live TV
